The political cartoon was drawn by Wolverton through Cagle Cartoons on December 20th, 2009. This political cartoon is poking fun of Tiger Woods, after recent allegations that he has been having affairs with multiple women. It is a play on the phrase "best player of the year" because Tiger Woods is a great golf "player," yes, but really he has been a "player" with the ladies. I think the cartoon is amusing myself, and I certainly agree with it. I think Tiger Woods thought he was invincible and could get away with anything , but now that he has been found out he is going to have to face some repercussions.
I like it when men get the consequences they deserve if they cheat on someone. Unfortunately, just because someone is the best in one aspect of their life(like golf) doesn't mean that they are a good model. I think sports heroes are too often portrayed as role models.
ReplyDeleteI also found this cartoon very amusing with the play on the "player." I agree with amanda in that most often sports heroes are endorsed as good role models in all the advertisements, but with Tiger Woods true nature out to the public he is facing some serious repercussions specially by losing his fan base and all the contracts he had with companies like AT&T.
ReplyDeleteI really like the cartoon you picked. I think that it is funny how Tiger was voted player of the year after having multiple affairs. I think that people should stop looking at all these sports players as idols because most of them are not worth looking up to as we see with Tiger, who was once very respected.
